It is with regret that we must tell you that we will be unable to continue the annual HISTORIC SUFFOLK COUNTY Archives Month Event.
Since 2003 we have organized, sought funding and participants, created posters, found locations, presented our own displays, and maintained a web presence. However, although the event has always been an enjoyable day with colleagues and friends, it has not been well attended by the public.
Because there are several events geared toward local archivists and historians, our idea had been to bring the archives to the public. Regretfully, we have not been able to succeed in that goal. We still believe the goal is a worthy one, but perhaps it will be better accomplished in another way, or by other individuals.
Please accept our sincere gratitude for all you have done
to support this event during the past 7 years and 6 events. We still hope to participate
with you in the development of a vehicle to bring the richness and historical value of
Suffolk County’s many archival collections to public attention.
